The 1‑Day RGV STEM Institute is designed specifically for K–12 teachers in the Rio Grande Valley.

 

It’s structured, practical, and grounded in what teachers in Brownsville, McAllen, Harlingen, and surrounding districts actually need: hands‑on STEM strategies, regional relevance, and classroom‑ready tools.

The RGV STEM Center provides students with opportunities to earn nationally recognized certifications that validate their technical skills and prepare them for careers in engineering and technology. These certifications give students a competitive advantage by demonstrating proficiency in foundational engineering concepts, technical problem-solving, and applied STEM skills.

SACA (SkillsUSA Assessment Certification in Applied Technology)

  • Provides students with hands-on assessment of technical knowledge and applied skills in engineering and technology fields.

  • Assesses areas such as mechanical systems, electrical circuits, automation, safety, and design process skills.

  • Recognized by industry and educators as a benchmark for technical readiness, supporting college and career pathways.

NOCTI Engineering Technology Foundations Certification

  • Evaluates students’ understanding of core engineering concepts, including CAD, manufacturing processes, materials science, and problem-solving techniques.

  • Prepares students for entry-level engineering roles and postsecondary education.

  • Nationally recognized certification used by employers and postsecondary institutions to validate technical competency.
